Only in the last few years have I realized I'm not a failure. That failure isn't just a part of life; it is life. That, in a lot of ways, failure is more important than success. Journey over destination, "a thousand ways not to make a light bulb," and all that. You learn more in "failing," trying, trying, and trying again. True understanding is the culmination of a lifetime of fucking around and finding out.

Delving deeper. Devoting oneself to the discovery. Figuring out where to pull back, to push harder, to dive in.

The only sure failure is giving up on yourself, not trying at all. I finally realized that perfection isn't the definition of success and failing isn't failure. That we are not defined by our failures. We are defined by our attitudes, our actions. Show up. Try again. Success isn't the first or even final result: success is built into the attempt.

So let's try, try, and try again. Let's not give up -- on our projects, our creativity; ourselves. Let's unfail together.
